If you don't have another computer, or you can't remote in due to something else (boot issue preventing you from getting to the non-visible desktop for example) you may need more power to run your mac native card and the PC card at the same time. There's a number of ways around this, the easiest is to turn on screen sharing, connect from another computer, install drivers, reboot, and it should work. You will not have a boot screen.Second: You probably won't be able to see anything until you have the drivers installed and activated. ![]() It's quite easy to find a 970 with 2x6pin, and very easy to find a 960 with only 1x6pin. The 9xx is obviously newer but it's main claim to fame is that is provides better performance and lower power draw (than both AMD and previous generations). The MacPro has nicely designed airflow, you can either take advantage of that with a shroud.7xx vs 9xx series. I would personally recommend a card with a full shroud because it won't vent heat into the rest of the system. The hassle isn't worth it when there are plenty of options. IMO it's worth making sure your card is 2x6pin or 1x6pin so you don't need to try to pull power from some sata ports, or get a secondary PSU, etc. Powerpoint templates for mac 2011If you don't already have 2 6 pin wires (depends on the existing graphics card configuraiton) then you'll probably need to get one from amazon. The connectors on the motherboard are a little smaller than usual. And that's just an extra adapter so I'd rather just keep it clean personally.Regarding the 6 pin connectors. You can find them with a single 8 pin, but the easiest way to get an 8 pin is to join your 2x6pins. You might even be able to find a 970 with a single 6pin, I believe the chipset is capable of it, but I don't know for sure. Best Video Card Pro 2008 How To Make ItSave your old card for troubleshooting in the future (big OS upgrades have a history of exploding things and being able to go back to standard spec makes troubleshooting much easier). Order a second power wire if needed. Look for 1x6 pin or 2x6 pin cards to keep power simple. The 9xx series is low power for it's performance so easier to find a high performance card that's easier to power (what I would recommend). Understand what you will (more accurately won't) see and how to make it work ahead of time (not hard, but scary when you just get black and don't know why or what to do). 6xx and possible 7xx are easier to set up since they don't require drivers.
